Heat where it’s needed.
Innovative systems for hot and warm water and steam generation.
The design and installation of thermal systems for the generation of hot and superheated water, as well as steam, form part of our range of services.
The energy sources used in our plants include natural gas, biogas, biomass (wood chips) and oil, as well as combinations of these.
- AGO provides a comprehensive service for the construction of energy centres for steam and hot water generation, including all the necessary, fully integrated systems required for safe and energy-efficient operation.
- The plants constructed by AGO have a heating capacity ranging from 1,000 kW to 50,000 kW.
- The pressure ranges covered are 25 bar (g) for hot water systems and 54 bar (g) / 450 °C for steam systems.
- All necessary requirements and approvals, such as certificates, HP0 approval, the preparation of welding specifications by our own specialist welding engineer, and piping manuals, are included in the scope of services provided by AGO.
Heat can be extracted from exhaust air, the ground, waste water or groundwater using a heat pump. A quantity many times greater than the electrical power used to operate the heat pump can be extracted from the heat sink (air, ground) and transferred to a higher temperature level. In the energy balance, the heat pump is supplied with electrical power for the compressor drive and the heat extracted from the environment. At the heat pump’s outlet, part of the supplied power is available as heat at a higher temperature.
Advantages of heat pumps
- Free heating energy
- Extremely low energy costs
- Good for the environment
- No open flame on site, therefore no CO₂ emissions
- Mature, proven and reliable technology
- Saves space, as no fuel storage room is required
- No chimney required, no chimney sweeping costs
- Independent of constantly rising oil prices
- Flexible system with solutions for every area
Heat sources
- Ground
- Water
- Air
Areas of application
- Municipal utilities and energy suppliers for feeding heat into local and district heating networks
- Industrial production facilities
- Hospitals to cover base and peak loads
- Swimming pools for heating the water and the building
Performance range
- Electrically driven heat pumps with a capacity range from 100 kW to several MW
- Utilisation of heat in low-temperature systems
- Multi-module design to optimise efficiency
Wood chips made from freshly felled timber or wood waste from timber-processing plants are burned in a special biomass boiler. Depending on requirements, heat, hot water, steam and electricity can be generated. In addition, the unused waste heat can be used to generate cooling via an absorption refrigeration system.
We use wood chips from fresh forest wood or waste wood as fuel. As a rule, the base load is covered by biomass and the peak load is met using conventional energy sources.
We have recently installed various biomass boilers and have many years of operational experience in the use of wood chips as fuel.
One advantage of biomass: the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act (TEHG) classifies this energy source as CO2-neutral.
Further advantages
- State-of-the-art plant technology
