AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen has been headquartered in Kulmbach since 1980 and has been part of RheinEnergie AG in Cologne since 1 July 2020. Our company specialises in innovative and efficient energy supply systems for industry and local authorities.
We employ around 180 staff and offer graduates interesting training opportunities in various technical professions. In addition to plant design and construction, we advise our contractual partners and customers and provide the associated services.
As a result, the name AGO has long been synonymous with efficiency, safety and technological expertise in energy supply systems such as combined heat and power plants, in the construction of heating, cooling and ventilation systems, biomass power plants or combined heat, power and cooling systems.

Management
Günther Hein
(born 1965) was a member of the Executive Board of AGO AG Energie + Anlagen from September 2011 to June 2020 and, from 2013, also served as its spokesperson; he has been Managing Director of AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen since July 2020. Within the company, his responsibilities include the areas of engineering and sales. Since September 2012, Mr Hein has also been a member of the Regional Executive Board of the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry.
From 2009 to 2011, he was Managing Director at KKT Kraus Klima u. Kältetechnik GmbH in Lauf an der Pegnitz, where he was responsible for the company’s restructuring. Until 2009, Mr Hein spent nine years as Sales Manager and a member of the management team at Hyfra Industriekühlanlagen GmbH in Neuwied.
A native of Namibia, he was a managing partner at Atlatek Kältetechnik in Swakopmund, Namibia, from 1991 to 2001.
Georg-Stephan Wilkening
(born 1975) was a member of the Executive Board of AGO AG Energie + Anlagen from late May 2013 until 2020 and has been Managing Director of AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen since July 2020. Mr Wilkening is responsible for finance, controlling and human resources.
From 2001 to 2008, he worked as a management consultant at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and IBM Global Business Services, where he was responsible for project and programme management, as well as process optimisation and strategy consulting. Between 2009 and 2013, he held various senior positions as part of general corporate restructuring and reorganisation, including at the solar equipment manufacturer Meyer Burger.
Emil Issagholian
has more than 18 years’ experience in the energy sector, specialising in energy services, sales and strategic business development. Since November 2026, in addition to heading up the Energy Services and District Heating division at RheinEnergie, he has also been Managing Director at AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen.
Prior to this, he headed up nationwide sales for energy services and successfully expanded the key account business as well as new growth areas in the non-commodity sector. He began his career in sales project management at Thermotex GmbH (a Shell subsidiary).
