Large-scale heat pumps in industrial applications – technology, cost-effectiveness and regulation
On 16 and 17 June 2026, the intensive seminar “Application of large-scale heat pumps – VDI 4646 & practical implementation” will take place at Fraunhofer IEG in Bochum.
With the official publication of VDI 4646, the topic of large-scale heat pumps is gaining further significance – particularly for industrial applications up to 150 °C. The seminar provides a practical overview of the technical fundamentals, regulatory requirements and economic aspects of using large-scale heat pumps in industry.
Speakers from leading companies and institutions such as Fraunhofer IEG, Johnson Controls, the University of Paderborn, CCR Carrier, TLK Energy and other renowned organisations will share their experiences from industry and research and provide insights into current developments and practical applications.
Speaking on behalf of AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen, Dr Klaus Ramming, Head of the Thermotechnology Department, will give a presentation on 16 June from 16:40 to 17:20 on the topic:
“Which type of heat pump is most cost-effective for which application? – Carnot vs. Lorenz”
The presentation will evaluate different heat pump concepts in terms of efficiency, temperature difference and cost-effectiveness, and highlight their optimal areas of application for industrial use.
AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen looks forward to the professional exchange with industry experts and to jointly providing impetus for sustainable industrial heat supply.
Venue: Bochum
Date: 16–17 June 2026
Presentation by Dr Klaus Ramming: 16 October 2026, 4.40–5.20 pm
