Iqony Camphausen

A district heating combined heat and power plant has been newly constructed as a hot water CHP plant on the former Camphausen mine site near Saarbrücken. Two gas boilers, a heat pump to utilise the heat from the mine water, and a power-to-heat electric boiler were installed, along with the pipework, ventilation and other plant engineering, as well as the connection to the district heating network.

Technical data:

  • Heat output of gas boilers: 2 × 4 MW hot water 130 °C
  • Heat output of heat pump: 1 MW
  • Heating side temperatures (heat pump): 65 / 90 °C
  • Temperature on the mine water source side: 38 °C
  • Electrical power consumption: 294 kW
  • COP (heating): 3.4
  • PtH electric boiler: 1.2 MW hot water 130 °C
