AGO Calora river heat pump contributes to the energy transition

Innovative CHP plant in Lemgo

The 1 July 2022 issue of the trade journal “Energie & Management” features an innovative combined heat and power (CHP) plant – known as “iCHP” – built for Stadtwerke Lemgo, with a focus on the “green” supply of heating networks.

In combination with three combined heat and power plants and a solar thermal system, the river water heat pump developed by AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen completes an iCHP plant that supplies electricity and heat, thereby enabling a saving of approximately 1,500 tonnes of CO per year.

The “AGO Calora” heat pump manufactured by AGO uses river water from the local River Bega as a heat source. Thanks to the proprietary two-stage heat pump process, which utilises the natural working fluids ammonia and water, the system delivers 1,000 kW of heat at temperatures ranging from 82 °C to 95 °C into the district heating network with exceptional efficiency.

With this plant, AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen is once again contributing to the energy transition. The plant is operated by Stadtwerke Lemgo, which aims to achieve a fully climate-neutral town centre well before 2045.

Further details on the project can be found in the report by Energie & Management: Energie & Management article 01.07.2022
