Installation of the AGO Calora heat pump at Stadtwerke Münster
The 1.8 MW high-temperature heat pump “AGO Calora” has now been moved into its final position at the STW Münster heating plant. It was installed in four modules with millimetre precision and is now being reassembled at the municipal utility’s heating plant.
At this site in Münster’s city harbour, heating energy was originally generated using coal-fired boilers several metres high.
As early as next winter, the large-scale heat pump is set to produce a portion of Münster’s district heating, helping to make it a little greener and more efficient. It utilises previously unused waste heat from a gas and steam turbine for the district heating network and the connected buildings and homes, thereby saving up to 4,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
