As part of a research project funded by the BMWK, the first Caldora heat pump was successfully installed. Together with Stadtwerke Neuburg an der Donau, we were able to realise the demonstration plant in a high-performance industrial setting. The heat pump utilises the waste heat from a combined heat and power (CHP) plant to generate hot water at temperatures of up to 135 °C, thereby efficiently supplying a malting plant with heat. The plant was awarded both the Bavarian Energy Prize and the Energy Efficiency Award from the German Energy Agency for its innovative technology and outstanding energy efficiency.

Technical data:

  • Drive motor: 250 kW, 400 V
  • Heat output: 0.8 to 1.1 MW (temperature-dependent)
  • Heat storage: 50 m³
  • Hot water temperature: approx. 132 °C / 90 °C
