EWG – Garching Large-Scale Heat Pump Heating Plant

AGO GmbH was commissioned to expand the existing heating plant with two compression heat pumps and to integrate these into the heating plant. As both heat pumps are located in the peak load boiler room, they had to be housed in a soundproof enclosure to shield against noise and potential refrigerant leaks. The waste heat generated by the motors is extracted from the soundproof enclosure via a ventilation system. As both heat pumps use ammonia (R717) as a refrigerant, the soundproof enclosure was designed to meet engine room standards and fitted with a gas detection system.
